.WAV files are sound files used in Windows and DOS.  They can be short sounds, like a cat's MEOW or long sounds like an old BEATLES hit!  Here are some links

Ds2stream - a Wave Player/Recorder for Windows 95/98 with Realtime compression and decompression also have limited for MPEG Layer-3 (.mp3) files. Has PlayList Support and DirectSound Support.

WHAM (Waveform Hold and Modify) 1.33 - A Windows application for manipulating digitised sound.  It can read and write Windows WAVE files, raw 8-bit digitised sound files and files of several other formats and can perform various operations on
this sound.  WHAM can handle sounds of any size, restricted only by memory.  Supports .voc, .iff, .au, .aiff, .raw, and .wav.
Winamp 2.09 - a fast, flexible, high-fidelity music player for Windows 95/98/NT. Winamp supports MP3, MP2, CD, MOD, WAV and other audio formats, custom interfaces called skins and audio visualization and audio effect plug-ins.
